Beautiful Tween and Teen Portrait Session

Greetings! I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this beautiful tween and teen portrait session during the autumn! I love working with young people, so when the mom got in touch and said she wanted fun images of these four cousins, I was over the moon :) Would you believe though that on the way to the session, the heavens opened, and torrential rain fell right until I drove up to the house. There had been no mention of rain on the weather forecast, by the way! However, someone was watching over us as the rain stopped right in the nick of time ;) I always say the best light comes after the rain, and boy, did it ever that day!

The mom was over the moon with these images and has ordered beautiful prints and wall portraits to mark this time in the girls’ lives. No doubt they will be cherished for many, many years to come

Laid-back Family Session With Teenage Boys | Stockholm Family Photographer

Yikes!  We’re over halfway through October already!  Can someone pump the brakes, please!   I feel like I’ve been thrown headfirst into the last couple of months and boy, has it been busy!   As well as my usual portrait work, I’ve also had some unexpected opportunities in other genres of photography, so I haven’t been resting on my laurels much! 😉 

This laid-back family session with teenage brothers was from last month and I so enjoyed it!  These young men are big into basketball so they quite rightfully brought along their basketballs and showed me some of their skills.  They’re quite tall so I had to have them sit down a lot or I had to stand on something to be able to get them in the frame!  ;)

I’d hazard a guess that these sweet brothers won’t fully appreciate these photographs of them hanging out and horsing around together until, hmm, maybe 20 years down the line…  When they’ve had lots of life experience, travelled, moved around, one day, they will look at these photographs and they will smile at their younger selves and feel so grateful that they have those great memories in print.  Time can change a lot of things, but those precious moments in time captured in a photograph have the power to warm hearts for decades.

A Summer Evening's Walk in Sweden | Barnfotograf Stockholm

Sweden is really beautiful in the summer. It provides the perfect backdrop to photographs, especially with the gorgeous, soft evening light. Today, June 21st, the sun doesn’t set until 22:06 here in Stockholm, and sunrise was at 03:31. That’s a whole lot of daylight, right?! For evening photo sessions at this time of year, the temperature is usually warm and the light is just yummy! Once I start shooting on these summer evenings, it’s hard to stop!

I should also mention that around this time of year, clients often ask me to their summer homes to do relaxed outdoor family sessions, which are always great fun :) It’s the perfect time to document your family when they can kick off their shoes and just hang out in the garden of their summer-house, maybe enjoying some fresh watermelon.

End of School Year Portraits | Stockholm Portrait Photographer

I’ve photographed three two-year-olds during three family sessions this past week. It’s a fun, albeit full-on age group! It does make me wonder though why so many families have their babies and toddlers photographed but few book sessions with their tweens and teens? It’s such a shame! When you look at photographs of your two-year-old and then you look at your tween/teenager, does it not amaze you how much they have changed in that time? They are becoming young adults right before your very eyes! SO MANY CHANGES!!

The below photographs were taken during the evening in a local park over a one-hour period. That’s all it takes to create beautiful, timeless, natural images of your tween/teen. Trust me, you don’t want the only evidence of these years to be phone selfies!

You can always book a portrait session just for your tween/teen, it doesn’t have to be the entire family, but please, make sure you have some beautiful photographs from this period of your child’s life.
